Many foundations, BB creams, and CC creams bring SPF protection and contain ingredients for oily skin and other skin types. Both BB creams and CC creams are multipurpose products as they combine skincare and makeup in a single product.

Confused about the differences between foundations, concealers, BB creams, and CC creams? Here are some helpful definitions:

Makeup foundation: is a skin-colored makeup used to create the ultimate makeup look. As its name suggests, they are the base and designed for full coverage of blemishes, imperfections, and even skin tone. Usually, foundations lack skin-benefit ingredients, hence not considered a multipurpose product.
Concealer: is a spot corrector of those areas that need extra coverage for the perfect look. It can be applied after the foundation or it can be used without a foundation to quickly even out your skin tone without too much makeup.
BB creams: stands for Beauty Balm or Blemish Balm, are lightweight liquid makeup with added ingredients to hydrate and moisturize the skin. BB creams provide a veil of coverage, so it is best applied for concealing minor blemishes. You can use BB creams standalone, making them the ideal product for “no makeup” makeup looks.
CC creams: stands for Color-Control or Complexion Corrector. A bit heavier and act as a color-correcting primer that helps reduce skin redness, hyperpigmentation, and even out skin tone while delivering at the same time skincare nutrients. You can use it standalone or use it as a primer underneath the foundation.
